A
Lotto Cheatah user asks: What weight factor [1 - 10] should I use?
"The
Weight Factor spindial is one of those black box thingys from the world of
quantum physics that nobody's quite sure about. The default is 1 and represents
the degree of randomness seen in the (lotto) universe. The higher the number,
the less randomness you have until, at weight 10, you have only a dozen or
so combinations that can possibly occur.. Of course, that's so far out in
lala land that it is likely to be true only in your wildest
dreams.
All that said, I provide Lotto Cheatah's Egg Picker
for Pick 3 and Pick 4 games on the optional Lotto Cheatah CD (available from
Digital River Inc via their subsidiary, RegSoft.com). The Egg Picker uses
the principles of the Global Consciousness Project at Princeton University.
You can read a blurb about it and get a link to it at
getkey.htm .
Anyway, if the egg picker starts going non-random
then you could consider cranking up the weight. Other than that I would leave
it at the default 1. Consider the weight factor wheel to be somewhat of a
black hole. Black holes are probably best
avoided."

Q. In a Big
Mix Report (all pick settings depths 50 thru 500) do the lowest Mix Odds
represent your best chance at hitting the jackpot?
A. Yes, the
lowest mix odds represent your best chance at hitting the jackpot.. but it
also represents your worst chance at hitting anything at all.
The fewer numbers you have in "your" drum, the
better the odds of hitting the jackpot IF all the winning numbers are in
your drum (a.k.a. mix report pick setting).
At the same time, the fewer numbers you have in
"your" drum, the better your chance of missing all the winning numbers. In
this scenario every pick using these pick settings comes up a loser, no matter
how many you buy.
So, both best and worst at the same time. Call
it the X-factor; X = eXtreme
Q. On the multi
trend chart, looking at the current hits and the draw before that, you would
you simply take the highest hits of those two dates to determine the
trend?
When you see an increase in hits, of course thats
when you would want to play, correct?
A. The last
draw compared to the draw before is the "current" trend, however while trends
are usually short lived they can extend through multiple draws.
Personally, a down trend doesn't mean I wouldn't
bet. It means LC hasn't hit that well so far today, so I would probably buy
fewer tickets. That said, if the jackpot was huge I would probably buy more
tickets anyway. The down trend may have run its course by draw
time.
Q. Would you
have to update all the games on the menu just to get a current reading
on the trend chart?
A. You
have to update all the games that you wish to include on your chart. Normally
those would be games that come in an before your ticket sales
close.
For Wed & Sat this would be UK Lotto and
UK Thunderball and somewhat (probably too much) later the Missouri Lotto.
Mon-Sat pick 5 would likely be AZ fantasy 5 from the night before. For daily
pick 5 games you might use GA Fantasy 5 from the night
before.
There are also the daily and bi-weekly PA and
NJ games which usually come in between 5PM and 6PM pacific. These results
might come in too late for some games.
Q. On the Mix
Report what does "projected to be below average through at least 0 more draws"
mean? Does it mean that the cold spell on a game is over?
A. It means
that the game:
-
either has no data from the Hitometer to report.
New games with little or no past draw history for example, or
-
it is bang-on its historical 10-draw average. In
this case it is not expected to hit above average, nor is it expected to
hit below. Each has an equal chance of happening.. It is expected to hit
below average for 0 draws is true. It needs another draw to see which way
things develop.
Q. You
mentioned that you run Lotto Cheatah to generate 10 picks every morning [see
Lotto Cheatah Hit Parade]. What
do you mean by EVERY PICK SETTING for each game? Also, what do you mean your
TOTAL NUMBER OF PICK SETTINGS PER GAME ARE BETWEEN 4 AND 91, DEPENDING ON
PAST-DRAW HISTORY?
A. The best
way to understand the PowerPicker function is
to run it yourself. Basicly, a pick setting is a number representing the
number of past draws used in making the calculation. Pick settings start
at 50 and increase in increments of 5 (50,55,60,etc).
Pick settings for some long running games can go
into the thousands of past draws, but Lotto Cheatah's automated features
only look at the last 500 draws. The logic being that any draw older than
500 draws is so old as to be no longer relevant to what is happening
today.
Some, actually quite a few games have not been
around that long and have less than 500 draws of past history. Powerball
just changed format by adding two more balls. They will have only 1 draw
of past history after tonight's draw.
Powerball is a good example of a game that has
only 4 pick settings. Actually it has only one true pick setting, but that
setting has 4 flavors that produce 4 different sets of results.. so you can
call it 4 pick settings. There is depth 50 (the minimum depth setting), and
there is depth 50 with Companions checked (numbers commonly picked together).
That's two settings. The PowerPicker ends its run with one final set of picks
using the full database. In the case of PowerBall these will get labelled
Depth 55 and 55 Companions checked, thus a total of 4 pick
settings.
Games that have a full PowerPicker database (500
or more past draws) will have a total of 91 pick settings, so all games will
have somewhere between 4 and 91 pick settings for the daily picks.
The Lotto
Cheatah PowerPicker
Pool Masters, those who buy or sell LOTS of tickets
and those who want to evaluate Lotto Cheatah's winning performance will find
a great click-finger saver in Lotto Cheatah's PowerPicker function.
PowerPicker is an automated feature available in
v1.06 and higher. It saves a specified number of picks for any lotto on the
menu, Companions checked and unchecked from all depth settings starting at
[you pick it] to a maximum depth of 500, or the end of the past-draw
database, whichever comes first. Just follow the four steps outlined below
to engage the PowerPicker, then sit back and watch Lotto Cheatah pump out
the picks.
Update your lottery database after the draw. Lotto
Cheatah will scan all your saved picks for winners and display them all for
you on the "Hit Parade". The updated lottery results are usually online within
1 hour following the draw.
Note: You don't need to use the PowerPicker
to scan for winners. All saved picks are scanned for winners each time you
update your lottery database.
What Depth Factor
to use?
Also see Depth
Finder pictorial
The default depth setting of 100 draws is seen as
a best-guess starting point. It represents enough draw results for Lotto
Cheatah to get a feel for the lottery system, yet not so many as to be years
removed from the current action. It is a generic setting and may or may not
represent the best setting for your particular game at any point in
time.
Winning picks are produced at all depth settings.
When Lotto Cheatah hits big at one depth setting, all depth settings [100
to 500] will usually produce winners. One particular depth factor may produce
more winners or bigger winners than another. Finding the right depth is like
fishing. When they're biting, they're biting.. but you will catch more and
catch bigger from a good fishing hole.
So, where are the good fishing holes? An experienced
angler might say the big ones are caught where they've been caught before.

and good luck
More on Depth, from an email to a user:
.. Depth is the great unknown quantity. At times it seems there is a definite
pattern to the best depth, such as all games being hottest within a certain
depth range. I don't know if this is just coincidence, due to the phase of
the moon, or what, but it is there enough to notice. Lately (last 2 weeks)
the 100's have been hottest.. but that may be changing to deep settings again
as Texas Cash 5 has now hit 4/5 two days in a row in the 400's; 425 on Mon,
400 on Tue. Could mean 375 for today's Cash 5 ? and perhaps a few
others..

a user asks
What
is the Companions checkbox for?
[the email reply]
There is a checkbox in menu item 'Config' called
'Show Hints'. This feature would normally be 'on' unless you unchecked that
checkbox.
[With 'Show Hints'
checked] Hold your mouse pointer over the 'Companions' checkbox. A small
window should appear saying "numbers commonly picked together". Hold the
pointer over any numbered ball, button, checkbox or dialog [pretty much
anything] anywhere within Lotto Cheatah for a context-sensitive
description.
A classic example of the
Companions function at work is the Iowa $100,000 Cash Game last night (July
27/02 results 8-10-11-29-31). Lotto Cheatah picked a 4/5 plus six
3/5 winners in the first 7 picks at the default 100 setting with Companions
checked. It hit 0/7 at the same setting with Companions unchecked.
Reason? Numbers 29
and 31 are 'Companions'. They have been drawn together 3 times during
the last 5 weeks. The combination 10 and 29 have also been
drawn together 3 times over the past 2 months (brings the 10 into the
mix) AND one of the due numbers (which hit) was commonly drawn with
one of these three. That's four. All we need to catch is that last
number. That's the 'Companions' feature doing a bit of its best
work.
There was more than one
$100,000 Jackpot in there for someone picking the 50 to 100 depth range
yesterday. Lotto Cheatah had this one nailed.. if (and only if) you
played Companions checked and fished shallow. Sometimes it goes that way,
sometimes all the big winners will be with Companions unchecked, and sometimes
it makes no difference. You never know how it will turn out, so it's best
to bet a straddle, ie; split your picks between Companions checked and
unchecked.
Q. I reinstalled the full version of Lotto Cheatah
and now it won't run. I get a Security Breach message that says "Unauthorized
database modification detected. Unlock with fixdata.exe". What
happened?
A. The full version provides 8 free credits and
installs everything, including the database. It is intended to be installed
only once per computer.
Lotto Cheatah will always lock up with a security
violation if it detects its database is not exactly the way it left it. Existing
users should always upgrade using the upgrade version, which contains everything
in the full version except the database.
Fixdata.exe is in your Program Files\Lotto Cheatah
folder. You need to be a key holder to use fixdata. See the reinstall
instructions in your key-issue email.
Play
For Credits Lotto
Play For Credits Lotto first appeared in Lotto Cheatah
v1.5 Xmas Edition 2004. There are two main considerations when betting credits
on the game. The first consideration has two parts:
-
The game is honest. You are playing the odds (every
pick has the same chance as every other pick).
-
A 10-credit bet provides much better payouts (per
credit) than a 1-credit bet.
The odds of picking the only losing combination;
the 2-hit, are 1 : 2.5. This means that the game will hit a winning combination
(on average) 2 1/2 times more than the loser. Playing a 0 bet until a run
of 2-hits develops and then ends may place you in a betting position where
statistically the chances of a 2-hit are less likely for awhile.
The second consideration is the payout. The game
wins more often than it loses, so the problem is not winning but rather winning
enough to more than make up for the losing 2-hits. Being a keyholder increases
your payouts by 10% per key*.
Increased payouts can and does make a huge difference
in the direction the credit window tends to travel. A single key changes
the entire perspective of the game. Where the minimum win (1/5) pays
a free play without key a key, it pays 10% more with a key, ie; playing a
10-bet the payout for a 1-hit becomes 11 credits.
*All payouts at all bet levels increase by
10% per key, however fractional credits are not recognized. Example, a 1/5
hit while playing a 1-credit bet pays 1 credit with 0 keys and 1 credit with
1 key (1 + 10% = 1.1 = 1).
Please Note:
You shouldn't have to
continually buy a key to keep playing. Play For Credits Lotto was created
for the sole purpose of rewarding the long-time Lotto Cheatah user. The payouts
are structured [big picture] to change from favoring the house to favoring
the player at 3 keys. The more keys you have, the more credits you win playing
this game.
