FAQ [Frequently Asked Questions]

Q. I have draw results but no chart for [date]. Am I missing data?
A. Possibly. It depends.

  1. If the missing chart is between charts, ie; for an older game, then the missing entry represents a "skunk". PowerPicker failed to hit money within the first 10 picks at any setting under depth 500. Skunked!

  2. If the missing chart is the last chart, ie; for the current game, then it may not yet be on the server. Lottery databases are updated to the server first, followed by the charts file, usually about 1/2 hr. later. Try clicking the Update Lottery button again. No credit is deducted for updating just the chart.
note: skunked draws [ 0-hits ] are displayed starting May 24, 2003 with v1.21 or newer

Q. What does the "score" mean?
A. The score represents the total of all *money-winning hits (*2-hits and jackpot-hits excluded) x the odds of hitting them. For example, on Lotto 6/49 the odds of hitting 3/6 are 1:57. When Lotto Cheatah hits 3/6 on that game with one of its 10 PowerPicks, it adds 57 to the "score" for that pick setting.

*Based on the first 10 picks per pick setting to a maximum depth of 500 past draws or end of draw history, whichever comes first.

  1. On charts. Score = total *money-winning hits x odds for this draw (Horizontal score).

  2. Best Depth Score = the highest total of *money-winning hits x odds is this pick setting. Based on all charts in the database (Vertical Score).

  3. Best Recent Score = the highest total of *money-winning hits x odds is this pick setting. Based on the last 10 charts (Vertical Score).
note: hold the mouse pointer over the Best Depth or Best Recent Score [or Hits] to reveal the number of draws and picks used.

Q. What is the difference between "By Score" and "By $ Hits" in the Config function for Auto depth setup?
A. Configurating your Auto Depth finder:

  1. By Score: Configures Lotto Cheatah to use the highest payout pick setting (jackpot-hits excluded).

  2. By $ Hits: Configures Lotto Cheatah to use the pick setting that has had the most money-paying hits, regardless of the amount paid (2-hits and jackpot-hits excluded).

Q. When viewing a depth chart, holding down the CTRL key lets me accumulate many charts onto one display. What is the purpose of this?

A. Multi-select can be a powerful what if tool. Example: if you multi-select x-number of charts you will see which pick settings hit the most or the least and which depth-spans were the most or least prolific over x-period of time. You can then compare the highest, lowest, most/least prolific grouping, etc., with the results of the next chart(s). Using multi-select to play what if may help you anticipate what pick settings will be hottest for the next draw.

 v3 Potbuster Functions
A: If the Automatic Running checkbox is checked
then Checkboxes D will configure to setting E
upon startup. This setting is global for all
     games on the menu.

B: If the Manual override checkbox is checked
then settings in checkboxes D, E and F apply
to all [Pick a winner] selections for this pick
session only. A pick session ends when pick
settings are changed, lotteries are changed
(including the same lottery) or you exit Lotto
    Cheatah.

C: Clicking on the wizard icon will cause Lotto
Cheatah to generate a Magic Numbers report
for the current game and pick setting (See the
Magic Numbers Report and/or Lotto Cheatah
menu item Help => Functions => v3 Potbuster
    for details on this function.).

D: Manually changing any value in any spindial
box results in a Manual override (B) setting.

E: Use this spindial to modify your default Auto-
matic Running (A) settings, then click the [Go]
button (G) to effect changes. Click the [Save]
button (J) to use as your default setting for all

spread. This is a Manual override (B) setting.

Note: functions E and F use a trim algorthym, ie:
they remove the min and max values first, then
whittle inward along this pattern. Other models
are possible. This model may not result in the
best possible mathematical fit.

G: The [Go] button. Click this button to update changes made
to any spindial on the display.

H: Restores v3 Potbuster to the default install configuration.

I:  Resets v3 Potbuster to 100% pattern match. Recommended prior
